Lausanne to Host Mondo Duplantis and Top Pole Vaulters in 2024 Wanda Diamond League
World record holder Mondo Duplantis will continue his dominant 2024 Wanda Diamond League campaign at the prestigious Athletissima meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, on August 21st. The reigning Wanda Diamond League champion is set to face off against a star-studded field of pole vaulting talent, including Olympic silver medalist Chris Nilsen, world silver medalist Ernest John Obiena, and Diamond League record champion Renaud Lavillenie.
Duplantis, who has already broken the world record once this year with a stunning 6.24m jump in Xiamen, will be eager to challenge the heights again in Lausanne. The Swedish phenom came agonizingly close to clearing 6.25m in front of his home crowd in Stockholm last weekend, further showcasing his unparalleled abilities.
“The pole vault event at Athletissima will take place as a captivating city spectacle on the shores of Lake Geneva, a day before the main Diamond League program at the Stade de la Pontaise on August 22nd.”
Duplantis has fond memories of the Lausanne meeting, having set a European record of 6.07m in 2020 and clearing 6.10m in 2022.
The Wanda Diamond League is the premier one-day meeting series in global athletics, comprising 15 of the most prestigious events. Athletes compete for points throughout the 14 series meetings, with the ultimate goal of qualifying for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on September 13th-14th.
Fans of high-flying pole vault action will not want to miss this eagerly anticipated clash of the sport’s titans in Lausanne, as Mondo Duplantis aims to further cement his status as the undisputed king of the discipline.
