Mondo Duplantis to Target Pole Vault World Record at Meeting de Paris

Mondo Duplantis, the reigning Wanda Diamond League champion, will once again take aim at the pole vault world record at the Meeting de Paris in July, just a few weeks before the highly anticipated Olympic Games.

The Swedish pole vault superstar is set to compete at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Paris on July 7th, marking his return to the Stade Charléty three years after his last appearance at the event. This summer, Duplantis is determined to get in shape for Paris 2024 and continue his pursuit of a fourth successive Diamond League title.

Duplantis has already made a strong start to the season, breaking the world record for the eighth time in his career with an impressive 6.24m vault at the Wanda Diamond League season opener in Xiamen last month. A week later in Suzhou, he soared over 6.00m before narrowly missing out on another world record at 6.25m.

“In Paris, the young phenom will be eager to surpass the 6.01m meeting record he set back in 2021 and, if the conditions are right, take another shot at the world record.”

The Meeting de Paris, the eighth leg of the 2024 Wanda Diamond League, serves as an important step on the Road to the Final in athletics’ premier one-day meeting series. With several of track and field’s biggest names expected to compete at the Stade Charléty, the Paris event will provide Duplantis with the perfect dress rehearsal for the biggest stage of all – just a few weeks before the Olympic Games.
