Soaring to New Heights: Yulimar Rojas Captivates with Triple Jump Brilliance
Andujar, Spain (April 6, 2019) – World indoor triple jump champion Yulimar Rojas continued her dominance on the global stage, delivering a mesmerizing performance that came within mere centimeters of her lifetime best. The 21-year-old Venezuelan sensation leaped an impressive 14.96 meters, cementing her status as one of the sport’s rising stars.
Rojas began her campaign with a solid 14.46-meter opener, followed by a 14.45-meter effort. But it was in the subsequent rounds that the young athlete truly showcased her prowess. She steadily improved with each jump, reaching 14.60 meters in the third round, 14.74 meters in the fourth, and an electrifying 14.82 meters in the fifth. Saving the best for last, Rojas capped off her display with a blistering 14.96-meter leap, just 6 centimeters shy of her personal best of 15.02 meters set in Madrid last year.
“We are just starting the season, and I think we have done it in a big way,” Rojas stated, exuding confidence and excitement. “I am 100% recovered from the injury I suffered in the winter; that says a lot about me.”
The Venezuelan’s performance not only solidified her position as the world’s leading triple jumper, but also demonstrated her remarkable resilience. Earlier in the season, Rojas had cut short her indoor campaign due to an injury sustained in Dusseldorf. Her triumphant return to the competition circuit in Andujar, however, left no doubt about her determination and the depth of her talent.
With this impressive display, Rojas has set the stage for an electrifying outdoor season, where she will look to add to her already impressive list of accolades, including the Olympic silver medal she won in Rio 2016.
